Elfin: Book 1 of the Elfin Series Kindle Edition

Never fall for a dark elf assassin.

Before tonight, Cassie Tate’s biggest concerns were whether she could pass Algebra and how she was going to keep Elora, her emo best friend, from dressing her in a skimpy fairy costume for Halloween. Then Cassie saw something no human was ever supposed to see ... an elf in its true form. The penalty for such a transgression ... death. The only one who can save Cassie now is the person most unlikely to do so. Triktaptic--assassin, spy, and the most feared warrior in the entire dark elf army.

Known to his associates as Trik, the dark elf assassin is the best to ever do the job. He kills whom he must, has mercy on no one, and never tires of seeing his prey fall. The dark elf king has plans to expand his kingdom into the human world, and Trik will lead the charge. But when a chance encounter brings the assassin face-to-face with the most beautiful human he's ever seen, Trik faces uncertainty for the first time in his life. He knows the girl is much more than a simple human, but he fears the truth of her identity will slay him faster than an army of light elves. Now, Trik has a choice. Will he continue to follow the darkness in his soul that has led him so faithfully his entire life, or will the light and goodness within a simple human girl be enough to overcome the darkness in his heart.

I finished this book about 2 hours ago and my stomach is still twisted up in knots!
This book was amazing and I cannot wait to read the next ones!!!!

This was an absolutely amazing and excellent read! I was fascinated by the world that Ms. Loftis created, and was enthralled throughout the story.

Quinn keeps you on the edge of your bed, seat, or anywhere you are reading.

Right from the get go we are thrown into a faced paced thrilling as the heroine of this book comes to terms with the life she is now apart of. Everything was real to me and I could feel myself going along with Cassie and Trik as they each made their own individual choices and face the consequences...

Elfin captivated me from the absolute beginning of the story! I would recommend this series to all who enjoys a well written story line that keeps you turn pages even though you really should quit...

Wow. I became a fan of the dark side after meeting Trik! This book was very entertaining. I embarrassed myself in public after a snort/laugh escaped me when reading...

Well, I've read my fair share of books containing the fae and I can honestly say that Quinn Loftis nearly tops the chart.

Quinn Loftis is the USA Today bestselling author of over thirty novels, including the award-winning Grey Wolves Series. Quinn's books are mostly YA fade-to-black romances full of powerful supernatural beings set in worlds both real and imagined. Occasionally, Quinn gets the bug to write something that isn't paranormal, such as a sweet contemporary romance. She writes those books under her penname, Alyson Drake.

A former pediatric nurse, Quinn was raised in the flat, cattle-country of East Texas before God, in His infinite wisdom, transported her to beautiful, Central Arkansas. When she isn't writing, you can find Quinn climbing Pinnacle Mountain, playing roller derby, or making swag for her readers (which she calls her pack). Quinn is blessed to be married to her best friend for over twenty years, and they have three rambunctious sons, two co-dependent dogs, and a cat that wants to take over the world.

One of My Favorite Books
I read this book a couple years ago but didn't have a physical copy. When I saw the gorgeous new cover art, I absolutely HAD to get a hardback version asap. If you love morally gray love interests who are smooth and romantic, soulmate stories, or hot elves (specifically dark elves), than you're going to enjoy this book. It took a turn I wasn't expecting, and that is honestly not normal for me. Quinn Loftis is an awesome writer well worth my money and time:)

4.5 Stars!!

Don't you hate it when a book is getting really good...you look at the bottom and you are at 97% and you think....yes, I still got some time in this awesome world...just to flip the page and it is OVER!! Ugh, the frustration. Where is book 2!!

Well Quinn does it again! She is definitely royalty in the YA world! I absolutely love the The Grey Wolf series and I think I am going to enjoy this series as well.

I love how the Elfin series and The Grey Wolf series have some similarities but are different.

How they are similar: They are both Awesome!! There is one mate/Chosen per paranormal character. The characters are witty, loyal, and you want everyone to have their own book.

How they are different: Well in The Grey Wolf series all of the main characters are good guys. In the Elfin series not so much...

Cassie is a normal teenage girl living in a normal teenage world. She is working for her father in a business building and observes a late night meeting. The men in this meeting are not human...they are beautiful elves. Cassie can't believe what she is seeing and when she notices that she has been noticed...she locks herself in a room, but she not alone.

Now this series is about the Elfin race. There are the dark elves, that are selfish and can be cruel, and light elves, that are...well you get the picture.

In the room with Cassie is the right hand of the Dark Elf King...Trik. He is the best assassin who shows no remorse to those that he tortures, maims, and kills. He sees Cassie and something happens...she can see him in his true form (all elves put a cloak over themselves to look human). The only way someone could see someone in their true form is if they are that person's Chosen. All Trik can think is...How could this happen!! Trik is evil and Cassie is pure and innocent....how could she be his??

"No Arwenamin, it's a promise. I have no doubt in my mind that I do not deserve you. I have no right to you based on my actions in my very long life, but those aren't reasons enough for me to walk away from you."

So they try to have a relationship. Even though he comes from a dark place and she is pure light. It doesn't hurt that he is gorgeous. Even her mom thinks so...

"That was Trik."

"I got that much, Cassandra. But who is he, and where did you meet him, and how old is he, and how on earth is he that good looking?"

Cassie has an awesome family. Her father is hilarious and my favorite is her gothic best friend with no filter, Elora. She is loyal and she speaks her mind...

"Fine, but if you get yourself killed I reserve the right to flush your ashes down the toilet while I sing the theme from Titanic."

Trik tries so hard to be the man that Cassie needs him to be...

"You are my everything, the very breath I breathe, the water I drink, the food I eat; you are all that I need, all that I want and all that I am is yours."

But can he go against his nature...

"You forget, my love, he comes from darkness. He has lived in that darkness for more than a thousand years. That's a lot to overcome."

Can Cassie be enough for him to change...

Is it enough if the love only comes from one side? Is the love of one person enough to conquer the hurt of two?

The book is great!! I can't wait for book 2!! I want to see the entertaining way that good can over come evil. Is there going to be something between Elora and Cush??

Oh Quinn...only you can end a book so...open-ended!!

This week’s book is Elfin by Quinn Loftis. This was not one of her free books, but in her other series the first book was free which is how I found her. This book is what I would consider Young adult fantasy. I fell in love with her first series and she branched off into two other series, one of which follows the storyline of the first. Overall the Elfin series is about good versus evil and finding yourself and who you stand for.

I have enjoyed every single one of Quinn’s books. The first book introduces the characters in a new and fresh way. Quinn rights her books very cleanly without compromising the connection between love interests. You can feel how the characters feel for each other and gives you butterflies without getting graphic which some people do not like.

I am especially fond of elves, so I might be slightly biased, but this book is one of my favorites and I would highly recommend it. I give this book a five out of five stars. It is a feel good story and one of the few series that I actually enjoy. I rarely enjoy series because I am very impatient and I hate having to wait for the next book. This first book is a perfect start to the series and makes you eager to read more. Some reviewers felt the story was forced but I actually enjoyed it and nothing was bad enough to pull me out of the story.

I love each of the characters and felt they were well developed. The main girl acted a bit young at times but it was expected at least from me since it was in the young adult genre. I never expected any of the characters to be extremely mature, but they were not too childish. It was a nice blend and made an adult such as me happy to read it.

I would recommend any of Quinn’s books to people. The story is the typical evil against good, however the way she tells it is not typical. Quinn creates a great adventure and takes the reader along for the ride. It is a feel good story and is nice to read and escape from the real world for a while. Link is below! Happy reading and get lost Inside a good book!

5.0 out of 5 stars weiteres tolles Buch von Quinn Loftis
Reviewed in Germany on July 31, 2014

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Start to a Very Promising Series!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 9, 2013
This is a fantastic start to a very promising series. Just like The brilliant Grey Wolf Series, Quinn Loftus has once again given us strong & interesting characters and a story which immerses you from the start into a fantasy world! In Elfin, the age old battle of light & dark has been brought up to date and it feels fresh and modern, with a hint here and there of history, decadence and medieval times!
I would agree that the story did feel a little rushed at times, but hey it's a story about Love, Magic, Destiny and the fate of not only the Elves but also the human race; so I feel it was justified, as the Authors needed to get back to the important stuff as soon as possible. Cassie & Trik together are great and their story is just beginning, so has lots of potential! I also love the feisty best friend Elora, who I hope will have her story told in an upcoming book (possibly with Nedhudir, fingers crossed.)
Here's hoping we do not have to wait too long for book number two!
